Saint Francis assumes operations of Bristow hospital; emergency room open

Saint Francis has taken over operations of the Bristow hospital and an emergency room is operating "as of today," authority members were told at their March 2 meeting. Ryan Powell, a presenter at the meeting, said "everything is going great" and that Saint Francis "has received their number and operates as an Emergency Room as of today." Trustees and the mayor thanked the organization for coming to Bristow.
Powell told the authority the system will add more specialty services, bring in additional providers and open some primary care services in time. When the mayor asked about a Home Care Program mentioned on the news, Powell said that service is currently offered only at Saint Francis's main campus at 61st & Yale and that he would inquire whether it could be extended to Bristow. Trustees asked whether the hospital needed assistance from the city; Powell said they were "ok and just staying very busy."
