County commissioners propose Seer Farm kennel; ask Carneys Point to run facility under shared-services arrangement

Three county commissioners—Ben Laury, Micky Ostrum and Cordy Taylor—approached the bench to present a plan for a county kennel at Seer Farm that the county has offered to purchase. The commissioners said they intend to buy a vehicle for animal pickups and asked Carneys Point Township to operate the facility under a shared-services agreement; they proposed membership fees and per-animal fees for participating municipalities.
Commissioner Taylor said the group is working on creating a 501(c)(3) to accept donations and noted Pennsville would serve as an advisory service. Mayor Brown said state guidance requires municipalities/counties to provide a kennel or place to take animals and asked that Lt. Pierson attend follow-up discussions; the commissioners agreed to call the township for further coordination.
