Habitat for Humanity asks Carneys Point to consider Affordable Housing Trust funds for repairs

Sue Ann Leighty, executive director of Habitat for Humanity in Salem County, told the Carneys Point Township Committee on Oct. 15 that the organization has built three homes in the county this year and seeks township support to use Affordable Housing Trust funds for repair grants that would benefit township residents. Leighty said it typically "will take about a year to qualify for a grant" and provided program totals: 277 families helped, 51 homes built, 176 ramps constructed, 32 veterans assisted and 18 senior-citizen repairs.
Leighty introduced John Boucher, a volunteer who now works with the organization through a grant. Committee members Dr. Johnson and Mr. Bomba were appointed to a subcommittee with Mr. Bibeau and C. English (business manager) to review the request.
