A Morrell parent told the board she recently learned the school’s music teacher would be transferred to another district school next year and urged trustees to review the decision because of the program’s importance to students’ sense of belonging.
"Teachers who build these programs and relationships should be valued and supported whenever possible," Leslie Cotto said, describing how her older daughter benefited from the Morrell music program. She asked the board to carefully consider how future personnel decisions affect students, families and community.
Trustees thanked the parent for her comments; the board did not take immediate personnel action during the meeting and the item was noted for further review as appropriate within personnel processes.
