The presentation listed project phases — design and planning, bidding and award, construction and closeout — and said the first group of five schools (Sierramont, Morrell, Ruskin, Northwood and Vinci Park) will have kitchen assessments this week to determine equipment reuse. The presenter said the recommendation for award of the Ruskin kindergarten roof replacement was included in the consent calendar for $170,335. "The recommendation of award was actually in the consent calendar for a $170,335," the presenter said.
Staff reviewed multiple site updates: fire-alarm replacements (Northwood nearly complete), exterior window replacement at Northwood (in DSA review), HVAC replacement designs at Majestic Way and Summerdale, portable storage shelving to be staged over the summer, and TK toilet conversions at Brooktree, Majestic and Summerdale to replace wall-mounted fixtures.
Trustees pressed staff on timelines for solar installations and HVAC work. The presenter said the district’s solar projects are held up at the utility: "PG and E just likes to take their sweet time," staff said, describing a backlog that leaves the district without definitive dates. On HVAC, staff reiterated that full replacements generally require a year of planning and that emergency repairs are being used to get through the end of the school year.
The board will track DSA approvals and the PG&E interconnection status in coming months; staff said shelving for elementary portables will be installed over the summer and that the Northwood fire-alarm testing is planned for the coming weekend with a target completion around June 1.
