Carneys Point Township on Nov. 17 introduced Ordinance 2025-174, which would amend zoning definitions and use tables to allow regulated outdoor cultivation of medical and adult-use cannabis with required security measures.
Town solicitor A. Telsey described the ordinance as designed "for open cultivation of cannabis" and said it would permit outdoor growing provided security is in place while maintaining a limit of two cultivation licenses. Mr. Pelura moved to introduce the ordinance, Mrs. Shaw seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. The ordinance was introduced for further review; specific licensing criteria and operational standards will be determined during subsequent ordinance hearings and administrative rulemaking.
