Round Valley residents press for local recycling, hazardous-waste disposal and lower transfer-station fees

Lew Chichester told the Round Valley Area Municipal Advisory Council that Round Valley lacks places to redeem CRV cans and bottles and limited options exist for appliances and hazardous materials disposal, which he said is contributing to illegal dumping in the valley. Chichester said he will continue to pursue solutions and requested that Amber Fisette, Deputy Director of Transportation, be invited to the council's next meeting to discuss possible service or fee changes.

The council discussed better education as a partial remedy and agreed to follow up with county staff. The presentation did not include a specific funding request; council members asked staff and the presenter to research local options — including temporary collection events, partnership with neighboring jurisdictions, or adjustments to transfer-station fee schedules — before the next meeting.
