The county emphasized that the amendment would not allow data centers by right — each applicant would need to go through a special‑use permit and public hearing. The draft also includes a requirement that applicants host a community meeting in the immediate neighborhood and post the property to broaden notice beyond mailed notices to adjacent owners.
The planning commission will review a recommendation and the Board of Supervisors will make the final decision; staff said prior public comments on the draft will be considered before any final action.
