Council approves easements, $500 parcel purchase and boat-launch agreement

Council approved several property- and easement-related motions on Aug. 13. The borough will install a catch basin for PennDOT at 104 East High Street and accept responsibility for two catch basins and roughly 60 feet of connecting pipe, while the property owner (Anthony Hickey) will install and maintain the ditch and pipe between the PennDOT and borough basins; the borough solicitor will draft the formal easement agreement.
Council also approved a retro-active purchase of a small parcel from the owner of 8 South Street for $500 to expand Municipal Lot #3, contingent on completion of a survey and solicitor-prepared paperwork. Separately, council authorized an easement with the American Legion to install and maintain a kayak/canoe launch on the ball field along French Creek; the project is funded by the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and the solicitor will prepare the maintenance terms in the easement.
