Council awards $22,295 contract to repair sinkhole and pipe at Municipal Lot #1

Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips reported a sinkhole at Municipal Lot #1 that investigators trace to failing 24-inch clay tile and disconnected pipes. Engineers recommended replacing the 24-inch clay tile, reconnecting pipes in the sinkhole to the main 24-inch line, installing a larger catch basin and replacing approximately 10 feet of pipe.
Council reviewed two written estimates — Mansfield at $22,295 and McLallen Construction at $23,450 — and on a motion by Councilor Steadman, seconded by Councilor Osborn, approved awarding the work to Mansfield for $22,295. The contract requires the borough to provide a truck during the project; Public Works will coordinate scheduling and project oversight.
