Union City council approves multiple motions, schedules meeting date changes

Union City Borough Council met Aug. 13, 2024, at First Global Methodist Church and approved a series of routine and project-specific actions affecting public safety, stormwater infrastructure and property rights. Councilors voted unanimously on motions including hiring a part-time police officer, authorizing a pipe repair at Municipal Lot #1, approving a retroactive easement at 104 East High Street, purchasing a small parcel adjoining Municipal Lot #3 for $500, and authorizing an easement with the American Legion for a kayak/canoe launch funded by state grants.
The council also received the borough's Minimum Municipal Obligation figures for pension planning — $48,029 for the non-uniform pension and $0 for the police pension — and agreed to change meeting dates to the first and third Monday of each month, Sept. through April, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 7:06 p.m.; an executive session on personnel and a contract followed and concluded at 7:52 p.m.
