Superintendent Dr. Fuentes used his report to flag state budget pressure and a potential impact on district revenue. "There's 5,600,000,000 that's being withheld. For Berryessa, that calculates to about 4,900,000," he told trustees, and encouraged parents and community members to contact elected officials to press for the funds.
Fuentes also highlighted district recognitions and events: Piedmont had been named a California Distinguished School and the district will celebrate multiple 50th-anniversary school events, district concerts and an art festival on May 9 that will raise scholarship funds for teachers. He named staff and administrators slated for regional recognition and said he will be in Sacramento next week advocating for Prop 98 funding on behalf of public schools.
