DeKalb drainage board continues Oro Boulder reconstruction hearing to Aug. 27

The Chair reconvened the DeKalb County Drainage Board’s public hearing on the Oro Boulder regulated drain (No. 54‑00‑0) at 9 a.m. on Aug. 6, 2026 and opened public comment on written objections carried forward from a prior session. After extended discussion and several landowners urging changes to the proposed assessment, a board member moved to delay the hearing two weeks so the county commissioners could consider contributing toward the reconstruction cost. "So my motion is to delay that, this meeting again for 2 more weeks until we have that commissioner meeting where we can approve the $178,000 to go towards this project," the board member said.

Supporters of the delay said the commissioners’ contribution would reduce the per‑acre charge for affected landowners to $1,000 and give staff time to reissue assessment rolls. Staff said they would send updated assessment scrolls showing the commissioner amount and the $1,000 per‑acre figure. The board took a voice vote; the Chair announced, "Motion carries," and the hearing was continued to Aug. 27, 2026, at 08:30 at the same location. The record remains open and all previously submitted objection letters will carry over to the reconvened hearing.
