The Hill City School Board approved a purchase-of-services agreement with Northland Community Schools to provide a Licensed School Social Worker to serve Hill City during the 2025-26 school year.
Under the agreement Northland will employ and bill for the social worker; Hill City will pay "fifty percent (50%) of total cost approximately plus fifty percent (50%) for necessary training, meetings and mileage as approved by the superintendent," with billing quarterly. The draft agreement estimates Hill City's portion as about half of ~$71,644 covering salary, mileage, benefits and some training. Motion to approve the purchase of services was made by Jay Zapzalka and seconded by Sarah Kingsley; the vote was 5-0 with one absence.
The contract text in the meeting materials specifies a July 1, 2025 start date, automatic one-year renewal unless timely notice of termination is provided by April 30, and insurance and indemnification clauses. The board also recorded acceptance of a letter of intent to begin negotiations with HCUE and flagged the revised FY25 budget timeline for March.
