Sevier County water committee approves Fund 204 and adopts multi-year rate increases

The Sevier County Water Committee on June 4 approved Fund 204 as presented and adopted a resolution to change the Water Department’s rate structure.
Vice Mayor Bryan McCarter (Assistant County Mayor), Director Brent Shults and Robert G. Campbell briefed the committee on the proposed Fiscal Year 2026–2027 budget. The presentation included a proposed increase of 10% for residential customers and 15% for commercial customers for FY2026–27, followed by annual increases of 5% for residential customers and 7% for commercial customers from FY2027–28 through FY2030–31.
Commissioner Ronnie Whaley moved to approve Fund 204 and send it to the Budget Committee for consideration; Commissioner Warren Hurst seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Later in the meeting Whaley moved to accept Resolution 2026-06-XX, "A Resolution to Approve an Adjustment to the Sevier County Water Department Rate Structure," which Commissioner Scott Catlett seconded; that motion also passed unanimously.
The committee did not record individual roll-call votes in the minutes beyond noting unanimous approval. The approved motions send the FY2026–27 Fund 204 budget and the rate-adjustment resolution to the Budget Committee and enact a countywide multi-year schedule of rate increases for water service.
