Long Prairie-Grey Eagle board certifies Nov. 5 election, authorizes certificates of election

The Long Prairie-Grey Eagle School Dist Board of Education met in special session on Nov. 13, 2024, and unanimously adopted a resolution canvassing returns from the Nov. 5 general and special election and authorizing issuance of certificates of election to the successful candidates. The motion to adopt the canvass resolution and to authorize certificates was moved by Tanja Levin and seconded by Chuck Wolf; the minutes record the motion text as: "It was moved by Levin and seconded by Wolf to adopt the Resolution Canvassing the Election Results and the Resolution Authorizing the Issuance of Certificates of Election. Motion unanimously carried."
The minutes record a total of 4,321 voters in the district. Vote totals listed in the minutes are: Thomas Zastrow 2,831; Chuck Wolf 2,544; Linda Gohman 2,447; Lori (Leyk) Hollenkamp 2,328; Jeremiah Zahnow 2,203. The board declared Thomas Zastrow, Chuck Wolf, Linda Gohman and Lori (Leyk) Hollenkamp elected to four-year terms beginning the first Monday in January 2025; Jeremiah Zahnow was declared elected to fill a vacancy with a term expiring Jan. 4, 2027 and "shall take office as soon as he qualifies," per the resolution.
The board also authorized the board chair and the school district clerk to execute Certificates of Election on behalf of the district and directed the clerk to deliver each certificate after the time for contesting the election has passed and after the candidate has filed campaign financial reports required by Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 211A. The minutes identify the clerk’s role in certification and in enclosing acceptance and oath forms with the certificates.
