Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation reports growth in school mental‑health support and senior hot‑meals program

Tammy Verhus, interim executive director of the Rainier Foothills Wellness Foundation, updated the council on the organization’s school‑based mental‑health services and senior hot‑meals program. Verhus said the foundation served a total of 82 students this school year—62 at Enumclaw High School, 9 at Enumclaw Middle School and 11 at Thunder Mountain—and that six students at EHS completed their therapy during the period.
Verhus said behavioral-incident metrics moved from an average of 0.69 (in an earlier period) to 1.016 in 2025–26, which she described as a “32% improvement” in incidents (as reported to council). On senior meals, she said the program has about 66 regular senior clients and prepares roughly 400 meals each week; volunteers (about 87) help prepare, shop and deliver meals three days per week. Verhus thanked council for prior support and invited questions and follow‑up with staff.
