Board places $125,000 one-year capital levy on Feb. 10 ballot

The Odessa School District Board unanimously approved Resolution #2-2025-26 on Nov. 25 to submit a one-year replacement capital levy of $125,000 to voters on Feb. 10, 2026.
The resolution’s ballot language says the levy would be "authorized to levy a one-year replacement tax levy be collected in the year 2027, the sum of $125,000, requiring approximately $0.37 per $1,000 of assessed valuation ... to be placed in the Capital Projects Fund to be used to support the modernization of school facilities." Sheena Starkel moved the resolution; Carmen Weishaar seconded. Motion carried 5-0.
Superintendent Steve Fisk presented the proposed levy as a means to support facility modernization. The board’s vote sends the question to the county election process but does not itself appropriate funds.
