School Board Hears Truth in Taxation Comments on State Funding and Levies

At the Dec. 17 meeting of the Princeton Public School District board, Director of Business Services Michelle Czech presented the annual Truth in Taxation hearing and invited public comment on state aid and local levies. "Comments were received from the public in regards to the state funding contribution and taxes in regards to operating and building levies," the minutes state.
The hearing provided residents an opportunity to voice concerns about the district's reliance on operating and building levies amid continued debate over state funding levels. The board later approved the 2024 levy payable in 2025 during the action portion of the meeting; the levy approval was recorded as a separate motion. The district said it will continue work on its legislative platform in coming weeks, which the board expects will guide advocacy on state funding for schools.
