The Carbondale Elementary School District No. 95 Board of Education voted June 25 to adopt an amended FY26 budget following a public hearing and staff presentation. The motion to adopt the amended budget passed by roll call with yes votes from Field, Cawthon, Major, Greer and McHenry.
Chief School Business Official Janiece Blake told the board that "the amended budget has been on display since May 21st, satisfying the statutory requirement to be on display for 30 days before approval." Blake said the amendment reflects accounting adjustments for TRS-related "on behalf" payments in Fund 10 that have a zero net effect on the education fund balance, and additional revenue and expenditures in Fund 20 tied to Community Schools work. Based on the information presented, the district is projected to book a surplus this fiscal year.
The board closed the public hearing by motion and proceeded to the vote, adopting the amended budget as presented. No additional public comments were recorded during the hearing. The board listed the amended budget and related documents in the meeting packet for public review.
