The Board of Independent School District 308 elected Dave McGee to serve as board chair for 2026 by acclamation during its Jan. 26 meeting. Andy Lindow was elected vice chair; Aimee Plumley was re-elected clerk and Karrin Lindow was re-elected treasurer.
The board designated the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Nevis School Media Center as the regular meeting time and place, with exceptions in May (the Tuesday after Memorial Day) and December (the third Monday). Work sessions are scheduled the Monday before regular meetings at 6:00 p.m., with specified exceptions; a quorum of four board members is required to change work-session dates and changes must be emailed three days before the session.
The board approved the 2026 compensation schedule to remain the same as 2025: $1,020 per board member, $408 for the chair, $178.50 for the clerk and $153 for the treasurer; meeting stipends are $66.20 for meetings four hours or less and $127.50 for meetings over four hours. Travel allowances were retained at $8 for breakfast, $10 for lunch, $13 for supper and mileage at the federal reimbursement rate when a school vehicle is unavailable (or $.18 per mile when a school vehicle is available). "Motion carried unanimously," the minutes state.
The elections and schedule motions were approved by acclamation or unanimous vote. The board will next meet in a work session on Feb. 17 and in regular session on Feb. 23.
