Council approves emergency $40,000 transfer to replace 25-year-old parks tractor

Ben Le Havart of the Parks Department explained a daily-use small tractor at Scales Lake had experienced an engine failure and could not be repaired. He said the tractor is about 25 years old and that repair estimates approached the cost of purchasing a replacement; Blush Brothers offered trade-in value that reduced the net replacement cost. "The small tractor that we have at Scales Lake... it's 25 years old, and we use it every day," Le Havart said, and asked the council to transfer $40,000 from economic development funds to parks equipment.
Council moved and approved the transfer unanimously so staff could buy a replacement without waiting until the September meeting. The motion passed 7-0 and the parks department will proceed with the lowest-bid replacement and apply the trade-in allowance.
