The Southgate City Council on Sept. 17 approved a contract award for replacement HVAC units in the Community Center's large hall. Councilman Melville said the Public Works committee recommended Arc Electric as the lowest bidder, at $118,400, with Schneller Knochelmann ($126,094) listed as the alternate contractor if Arc cannot complete the work by mid-October.
Melville moved the award and Council Member Curry seconded; the motion passed on a 6-0 vote. City officials said the work will be paid from the Special Projects fund. Public Works Foreman Bowman had no additional report at the meeting.
