ISD 622 sets directory information rules, authorizes ESEA applications and non-resident attendance agreements

As part of the organizational resolution package, the board declared the district's directory information categories under the U.S. General Education Provisions Act and the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act. Directory information includes student name, date of birth, grade, participation in officially recognized activities and sports, athletic weight/height, degrees/honors, and photos used for yearbooks and district publications.
The resolution explains opt-out procedures: a parent, guardian or an 18-year-old student who wishes to make directory information private must notify the principal in writing each year; the notification remains in effect until Oct. 15 of the next school year. A parent/guardian or 18-year-old student who wishes to refuse release of directory information to military recruiting officers or post-secondary institutions must notify the principal in writing by Oct. 15 each year.
The board also authorized the superintendent or designee to apply for financial assistance under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) as amended and directed appointment of a Local Agency Representative and an ESEA contact person. The board authorized the superintendent to execute non-resident student attendance agreements for the 2024–25 school year as permitted by Minnesota statute.
