Board approves intergovernmental library agreement and adopts handbooks; policy updates set for further review
Summary
Board approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Carbondale Public Library to give limited-access library cards to students through FY2030, approved Parent-Student, Coaches and Athletic handbooks for 2026–27, and conducted first readings of multiple Press Policy updates.
The board voted May 21 to approve an intergovernmental agreement with the Carbondale Public Library Board of Trustees to provide free limited-access public library cards to district 95 students for FY2027–FY2030. The motion passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
In the same meeting the board approved the Parent-Student Handbook, the CMS Coaches Handbook and the Student Athletic Handbook for the 2026–27 school year. Each handbook approval was moved, seconded, and approved by roll call without recorded opposition.
Separately, the Policy Committee reported a May 12 meeting and the board conducted first readings of Press Policy 121 items and a broader set of draft Press Policy updates (2:200, 2:220, 2:250, 2:260, 4:165, 5:30, 5:50, 5:250, 5:330, 6:65, 6:100, 6:145, 6:170, 7:20, 7:50, 7:100, 7:185, 7:240, 7:260, 7:300, 8:90). No action was taken on the policy updates at first reading.
