District, teachers reach tentative agreement: 1.3% ongoing raise and 1.08% one-time payment approved

The Sulphur Springs Union School District and the Sulphur Springs District Teachers' Association reached a tentative agreement for the 2025–26 school year that the Board approved Feb. 25, 2026. Dr. Catherine Kawaguchi reported the agreement includes an ongoing 1.3% on-schedule salary increase effective July 1, 2025 and a 1.08% one-time off-schedule payment. The one-time option was described as a prorated $1,000 per member elected by SSDTA.
The Board voted unanimously (Weinstein-Aye; Chase-Aye; DeFigueiredo-Aye; MacDonald-Aye; Jellings-Aye) to ratify the tentative agreement and the required AB 1200 posting. There were no public comments during the AB 1200 hearing.
