Canyon Springs Community School honored as a National Promising Practices School

The Sulphur Springs Union School District recognized Canyon Springs Community School on Feb. 25, 2026 after the school was named a National Promising Practices School by ALLTHINGSPLC. Dr. Catherine Kawaguchi, the district superintendent, introduced the recognition and Dr. Cindy Pilar, Executive Director of the California Principals Support Network, presented a commemorative plaque and flag.
Dr. Pilar said Canyon Springs was selected for strong implementation of Professional Learning Community practices and measurable student achievement growth, noting the school is “one of only 84 schools in California to receive this distinction out of approximately 9,000 elementary schools statewide.” Principal Matt Gilpin thanked staff, families and district leadership for their role in the work that led to the award.
