Minneapolis Board adopts new student publications policy, repeals older rule

Policy 6255 sets the district framework for supervising school-sponsored media while recognizing student free-expression rights. The policy defines "school-sponsored media" and "student journalist," lists categories of prohibited material (for example material obscene to minors, defamatory content, privacy invasions and content that causes material and substantial disruption), and establishes time, place and manner rules for distribution. The minutes do not specify an effective date or implementation timeline beyond the adoption language.
