Council discusses police-clerk hire, requests budget analysis and schedules special meeting

Mayor James Hamberg told council that candidates NKADD recommended for the City Development Administrator role did not work out and that the city had interviewed candidates for the Police Clerk position. He reported that Chelsie Shay was offered the position but council members questioned whether the role should be part time without benefits.
Finance Director/Treasurer Edgley said benefits had been included in the budget in case the job becomes a combined position. The mayor asked Edgley to prepare a cost analysis showing the budget impact; the council requested a special meeting on Oct. 20 to review the analysis. No final hiring decision or vote was recorded at this meeting.
