Director: agreement received from Hawkeye Land on railroad easement; culvert and archaeology issues flagged

Director Nick Gottwalt informed the Board that the village received an agreement from Hawkeye Land concerning a railroad easement between Carbon Cliff and East Moline, and that the village attorney was reviewing the agreement. Gottwalt had a phone meeting scheduled with the village attorney on Dec. 17 to discuss the document.
Gottwalt and Trustee Robert Dreher planned a meeting with the Quad City Chamber on Dec. 18 to discuss the railroad's land in Carbon Cliff and potential future development. The minutes note the village may inquire about installing a culvert under the railroad off Argillo Creek as part of that work. Trustee Todd Cantrell cautioned that Indian artifacts likely prevent the village from pursuing work south along his property, and he said if the railroad develops the area, the railroad might include a culvert as part of its project.
