Southwest Public Schools board approves multiple KSB-required policy revisions and two new policies

On a motion carried by recorded vote, the board approved revisions to Policy 2008 (Meetings), 3036 (Purchasing Credit and Program), 3023 (Record Management and Retention), 3043 (Design-Build Contracts), 5002 (Admission of Students), 5015 (Protection of Pupil Rights), 5018 (Parent Involvement in Education Practices) and 5031 (Student Appearance). The minutes attribute the motion and vote to board members present and record the motion as passing without recorded nays.
The board also adopted two new, required policies: 6044 (Participation and Assignment of Athletic Teams) and 6045 (Behavioral Intervention). Board member Duane Teter moved the adoption and the motion carried with ayes recorded from the voting members. The minutes do not record dissent on these adoptions.
These changes were presented as compliance items from KSB School Law and were incorporated into the district’s policy manual.
