The Piedmont Garden Club announced a $5,000 donation to the city to fund a bottle‑filling station and drinking fountain planned for the Linda Tot lot. Sarah Abel, the club’s civic projects committee chair, said the committee chose the project from three options put forward by city staff and voted unanimously to support the Linda Beach tot lot installation.
“By a large margin, [the committee] agreed to fund a bottle filling station, which supports PGC’s conservation goal of reducing single use plastic,” Sarah Abel said. Nancy Kent, park and project manager, said the station will be installed when construction starts on the top lot and that the donation will fund the fourth bottle‑filling location in town.
The commission invited Garden Club members forward for a photograph and accepted the check. Staff said the station will be sited near the old fountain location to take advantage of existing pipes and drains, though they cautioned that uncovering old utilities during construction could require additional work.
