WEM principals outline April testing schedule, UFLI literacy training and ACT prep plans

WEM Principal Dr. Jennifer Wilson told the board that standardized testing for grades 3–11 is scheduled for April; teacher preparation and testing schedules were to be completed before the end of March. Wilson also said K–4 parent‑teacher conferences are scheduled for March 31 and April 3.
Wilson reported the elementary school has piloted UFLI, an early literacy curriculum from the University of Florida, and that Title I/Interventionist Britta Robran and elementary special education teacher Hillary Hebl presented an in‑house professional development session to boost implementation. For high school students, Wilson said juniors met for a presentation covering ACT, MCA and early-bird study classes; Mr. Richards and Mr. Petry will offer no‑charge early-bird test-prep classes funded by the Achievement and Integration grant.
Middle School Principal Myles Knutson described Catalyst coaching for staff and common test-taking strategies to prepare students for MCAs. Knutson said staff and students will take part in an MCA kickoff event and that Math Masters teams have competed successfully.
