Parks and recreation staff presented two in-kind donation requests and recommended both be placed on the board consent agenda. One was a routine Kiwanis community benefit (a seasonal boat launch pass) and the other was a Tahoe Joy Festival sponsorship the staff valued at $5,322 covering Commons Beach rental and staff costs.
"That's a combination of the rental of Commons Beach ' which I will point out that it is still open to the general public while they're having their event ' and then the remaining dollar amount is for staff costs to support the event," the parks staff said, explaining why the donation exceeded the staff-level approval threshold and required committee review. Committee members discussed sponsorship level implications (major sponsor status), stage and set-up costs and parking impacts and asked staff to return with more detailed cost-recovery information in May.
