Human Resources Director Joel Milteer presented a resolution at the South St. Paul School Board work session on May 12 recommending that the district not renew contracts for a number of probationary teachers, effective at the end of the 2024–2025 school year. Milteer told the board the releases reflect several factors including student-driven scheduling changes, enrollment shifts, budget reductions, curriculum adjustments, licensure issues, mid‑year placements and “performance concerns” as cited in the staff report.
The recommendation is a presentation item from the Human Resources department and—per the work session minutes—will be brought forward for board consideration at the regular meeting later that evening. No board vote on the non-renewal resolution is recorded in the work session minutes. The minutes do not list the affected teachers by name in the work session summary; final personnel actions, including formal notices and any appeals rights, would be governed by district policy and applicable employment law.
