Chief Baldwin described Westport Cares as a program that conducts senior visits and assessments to help older residents live independently. "The main goal of that program ... is to allow seniors to live independently within their homes, as they grow older," he said, noting the program has been operating for about a decade in the department's view.
Anne Marie, who has worked at the Council on Aging, said her background informed the department's approach to seniors and that the program complements other local aging services. Event organizers thanked staff for work with the Council on Aging and expressed intentions to maintain collaborative ties with the incoming director following Beverly Bish's departure.
