Brookings-Harbor board selects three standards for superintendent Targeted Feedback Survey

At a Dec. 18 work session at Kalmiopsis Elementary, the Brookings-Harbor School District board heard a presentation from Janet Avila-Medina of the Oregon School Boards Association on the Targeted Feedback Survey (TFS), a tool to gather focused input for the superintendent evaluation. "The TFS focuses on gathering input from stakeholders who interact closely with the superintendent," Avila-Medina said.
Board members agreed to narrow the survey to three standards to target feedback where the board has less direct knowledge: Standard #1, Visionary District Leadership; Standard #4, Culturally Responsive Instructional Leadership and Improvement; and Standard #5, Communication and Community Relations. The board discussed the importance of engaging diverse stakeholders and keeping the survey concise to encourage participation. The board also tasked the board secretary with compiling the list and contact information for potential respondents.
The board noted next steps include logistics for distributing the TFS and incorporating results into the superintendent's evaluation timeline. The district expects to use responses as one input among others in the annual evaluation.
