Public Works: Colburn Road milling set for Aug. 13–14; townwide PCI assessment to guide paving

The Board of Selectmen heard an advance Public Works update Aug. 5 after voting to move the item earlier in the agenda. Public Works Director John said milling on Colburn Road is scheduled for Aug. 13–14 and will likely require alternating one‑way traffic; the work will extend from Route 19 up to Finch Road.
John said his office is exploring paving the Forest/Woodland/Barber Lane subdivision in September if contractor openings hold and drainage inspections confirm the work is appropriate. "The paving contractor that is paving Colbert Road right now... actually have some a couple weeks opening in September," he told the board, adding crews have inspected drainage and identified catch basin tops that may need replacement before paving.
The department has completed a townwide road assessment using LIDAR and 360° imaging to update pavement condition index (PCI) scores and to inventory sidewalks and trees, John said. The assessment will identify low‑hanging branches and sidewalk deficiencies to inform short‑ and long‑term paving priorities. John asked residents to anticipate minor delays and to be patient during the work.
