The Stony Creek Joint Unified School District Board of Education on April 22, 2025 unanimously approved the 2025–26 district calendar, which contains 181 instructional days. Superintendent Emily Pendell presented the calendar and confirmed, “The first day of school will be August 13, 2025, and the last day will be May 29, 2026.”
Pendell told the board the calendar complies with education-code requirements for minimum instructional days and avoids the confusion the district experienced with “flex days” last year. The approved schedule places spring break the week of March 16 and designates Monday, April 6, 2026 (the day after Easter Sunday) as a non‑attendance day to address staff and student fatigue following the holiday. Trustees said the calendar reflects staff input: school personnel were given three options and selected the one with the most votes.
Trustee Krystal Craven moved to approve the calendar; Trustee Delana Martin seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously. The board packet noted the district will monitor implementation and make any necessary logistical adjustments prior to the first day of school.
