District reports progress on MAP testing and curriculum pilots; board approves Holocaust course proposal

Superintendent Fisk reported that K–12 MAP testing is nearly finished and that MTSS interventions are showing improvements in both ELA and math scores, though additional supports are needed for grades 6–12. Fisk said staff are piloting two math curricula in grades 2 and 5 and have begun early stages of piloting an ELA curriculum for grades 6–12; the district must use research-based curriculum by 2028.
The board also approved a Holocaust course proposal during the meeting. The curriculum pilots and the new Holocaust course reflect continuing instructional review and adoption processes; the district’s timeline requires research-based materials and further staff planning before full adoption. Kimberly Ryan organized an Alumni Career Day on Jan. 28 with 34 alumni participating; early-release days include student experiences and staff planning time.
