Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips said he and Borough Manager Cindy Wells met with Solicitor Tim Wachter about sinkholes in Municipal Lot #1 and recommended repairs be done before smoke-and-dye testing. Specifically, Mansfield is expected to fill the sinkhole, replace about 10 feet of pipe and install a new catch basin. After repair, smoke-and-dye testing will be conducted; bids/quotes are being requested from JT Patching and Paving and Cross Paving to pave the repaired areas and the catch-basin area in Municipal Lot #2.
Bob Phillips said business owners in the area and the Union City Volunteer Fire Department will be notified once smoke testing is scheduled. The minutes record that the borough is waiting on quotes for paving and that the smoke testing will follow the physical repairs.
