John confirmed the FY27 budget includes a 3% pay raise for administrative staff and a 5% increase for public works employees. When asked for the dollar impact, he and the chair discussed line-item estimates ranging from $31,000 to $37,000 for the administrator portion and about $45,000 including benefits for the package.
Several council members said they were supportive of recognizing staff but expressed nervousness about committing raises while revenue (including sales tax and interest income) is being budgeted conservatively. The chair and John noted the council can amend the budget later in the year if revenue changes or unexpected expenses occur.
