The WEM Board of Education approved a consent agenda that included hiring Anna Meschke as Food Service Director at a rate of $29.49 per hour (salary basis $46,000 for 195 days) and approving Amber Volkman as a long-term substitute preschool teacher. The board also approved Family Medical Leave of Absence (FMLA) requests: Cory Immerman, High School Math Teacher, for approximately Feb. 6–12, 2025; and Kelly Stanton-Nutt, Elementary and High School Art Teacher, from Jan. 23, 2025, to about Mar. 6, 2025. The board accepted the resignation of Katie Swenson, a food service employee in Morristown, effective Jan. 20, 2025.
As part of routine approvals the board accepted the December–January financial report that listed "bills and payroll from the report were $1,493,127.34, deposits were $1,368,714.33, and transfers of $2,534,902.00," and Bakken noted bills were higher due to the early Dec. 16 meeting. Seven members voted in favor of the consent agenda.
