The Chair said the draft values "went up millions and millions of dollars" for some municipalities following reassessments and noted the final equalized values arrive Aug. 14.
The Chair asked Tom to provide updated municipal numbers, and the chief said the department will return with a request for a budget increase tied to consumer-price-index considerations. The board discussed that reassessments and municipal challenges could change the final amounts and that the budget discussion will resume once final numbers are available.
Members asked clarifying questions about how the equalized values factor into the district's tax assessment and the Chair emphasized the district is preparing conservative, workable requests for municipalities.
