Township staff recommended appointing Emily Hack as deputy tax collector and assistant chief financial officer to address staffing shortages and provide coverage for tax-clerk and finance duties. Staff said Hack brings nearly six years of municipal experience and has completed required certified-tax-collector courses.
"She comes to us with almost 6 years of municipal government... She's completed all 3 required courses... so she's well qualified for this position," staff said. Her official start date was listed as the beginning of September with some training during August; the committee moved to approve the salary and appointment as an amendment to the prior salary resolution.
Staff said the additional position and hours respond to current coverage gaps in the tax office and will improve weekday staffing and continuity.
