Board elects Mark Sebring chair, names other officers at organizational meeting

Independent School District 761 elected its board officers during the organizational meeting on Jan. 6, 2025. Mark Sebring was elected chairperson after being nominated by Jolayne Mohs; Lori Weisenburger was elected vice-chairperson following a nomination by Mohs. Timothy Jensen won the clerk election after two nominations; the tally recorded one vote for Elizabeth Hedlund and four in favor of Jensen. Jolayne Mohs was elected treasurer after a nomination by Jensen.
The elections were conducted by motion and voice vote. The clerk's race was the only item that recorded a split tally: SEG counts in the minutes show Elizabeth Hedlund received one recorded aye (Ron Kubicek) while Timothy Jensen received four recorded ayes (Sebring, Weisenburger, Mohs, Van Gelder), and Jensen was declared elected. The leadership slate will guide committee appointments and procedural roles for the 2025 calendar year.
