Township staff told the committee that the prior animal-control provider, which had served the township for 21 years, notified the municipality it would no longer provide service. Staff recommended appointing New Jersey Animal Control LLC to supply statutory animal-control duties including trapping, rabies response and sheltering.
Staff said New Jersey Animal Control LLC already serves more than 20 Burlington County municipalities and has been responsive during the review. "They jumped right on board," staff said, noting there would be no price increase for routine services and that any additional work would be preapproved through administration except in emergency situations.
The committee moved to appoint the new contractor to complete the current year and to evaluate longer-term arrangements during next year's budget cycle.
