Seijin Kim reported to the Streets & Utilities committee that short-term EV users avoid the village charger because of a $7 minimum charge and a limited connector selection. "We propose dropping our $7 minimum and increasing the charge rate to $.40/kwh," Kim said, and recommended adding a NACS connector to support newer vehicles.
Vendor EVunited provided a written estimate to replace the CPE250 CHAdeMO cable with a NACS kit: equipment $2,225 and installation $1,650 for a total of $3,875. Committee discussion noted potential to negotiate with AEP on time-of-use rates and that retaining an idle fee ($0.50) could discourage noncharging parking. The proposal will appear in council materials for further consideration and procurement if approved.
