Board allows unlimited interdistrict transfers with Transfer Officer oversight

The Klamath County School District board voted 5-0 to permit unlimited interdistrict transfers, while preserving administrative control over individual cases.
"I move we allow unlimited transfers in and out of the district, with the caveat that the Transfer Officer controls individual transfers based on previously established class size guidelines," John Rademacher said when he moved the motion. Jill O'Donnell seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Board members asked staff to remain vigilant about verifying addresses at overcrowded schools.
The new direction gives the district flexibility to accept transfers while retaining a class-size safeguard enforced by the Transfer Officer. Board members noted the policy change will require ongoing monitoring at schools experiencing overcrowding.
