Commission reallocates funds previously held by Urban Housing Solutions amid performance concerns

Carrie Dietz explained that PEC created an "additional bucket" of permanent supportive housing-eligible funds by reallocating dollars that Urban Housing Solutions had been receiving, citing ongoing compliance concerns with that agency. "I've been here before talking about Urban Housing Solutions and their compliance issues. They've been a long standing underperformer," Dietz said, and the PEC moved to preserve those funds for the community's permanent supportive housing needs.
PEC members and other commissioners discussed how reallocating the funds would prevent a loss of vouchers and instability for projects that rely on those vouchers. Dietz also described allowing flexibility for applicants who used recently disfavored language (such as Housing First) to update descriptive language so applications would fare better under HUD's changed scoring priorities. The Commission approved the PEC's approach as part of the overall ranking vote.
